It was rainy day in Shimabara when we arrived at Samurai Residence Parking Area, just in front of Sakura Park which the Shidare Zakura were in full blooms. We stoped the car, prepared the umbrella, and strolling the street around 500 m to the site of Samurai Residence.

In case you are using public transportation, you can take JR Nagasaki line to Isahaya station, then change to Shimabara railway and stop at Shimabara Station. Then you can walk to west around 10 minutes.

The samurai residences in Shimabara is free for entrance, and we have the opportunity to explore inside the home. So just enjoy slowly, you may just need 15-20 minutes to visit all the three houses.

The samurai residences are consisted of three residences, the Shinozuka, Yamamoto and Torita Residence. Each residence has different style because of the wealth, size, etc. I collated the pictures of each house focussing on their main gate, garden, main room and kitchen which quite different from an eye glance. Then, just in front of the residence, there is a canal where the water are used for daily needs.
