A few weeks ago, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and join a workshop. Since it was my first time, I can honestly say that I had mixed feelings. I wasn’t sure if I should go the day before as I’m not used to being away from my kids for a period of time. Thankfully, my sister and her kids were around, making home feel exciting, which gave me some peace of mind.
The Day
That morning, I left feeling both confused and excited. Honestly, I felt a little out of place, knowing that most of participants were likely to be young professionals, recent graduates, or students. There were, I think one or two full-time stay-at-home moms (SAHM) just like me. But guess what? It turned out to be so much fun! It was like my inner young girl woke up, and I felt like I was stepping into my first day of college all over again.
Pre-Workshop Drama
Before I got to the workshop, there was a bit of drama. I spent time wandering around the neighborhood with Gojek, trying to find my kids, who were out for a walk with their cousins, but I couldn’t find them! In the end, I hurried to the venue. And when I got there, I was confused about which building it was until a kind guy pointed me in the right direction.
Workshop Highlight
Visual design and content writing were discussed in the workshop. The information was simple, but it was never boring. They used case studies from everyday content, which made practice tasks much easier to understand. It seemed like I was back in college when I had the opportunity to present results from two case studies. The feedback was insightful and constructive, giving me that “Oh, that’s how it’s done” moment.
