Review: Dove Super Shampoo with Serum (3 in 1)

Is this shampoo available in your country? I rarely see it in Indonesia’s retail or e-commerce but Sociolla has sent me this to review. I find it interesting, ” Shampoo + Serum”. As you know, serum in personal care means the absorption is deeper and powerful. That is why we often see serum as more expensive than non-serum type. Let’s do a brief review!

Description: One solution shampoo for your hair problems (3 in 1 means 3 hair problems in 1 solution):

1. Effective in reducing hair loss due to hair breakage;

2. Eliminate visible dandruff and prevent dandruff from coming back;

3. Will not make your hair looks limp.

Price, Size, & Packaging: Rp20,000 for 125 ml. The tube is sturdy enough so it won’t be leaked.

To use: Apply to wet hair, massage until lather, rinse thoroughly.

Ingredients: Water, sodium laureth sulfate, dimethiconol, cocamidopropyl betaine, perfume, sodium chloride, glycol distearate, phenoxyethanol, glycerin, TEA-dodecylbenzenesulfonate, carbomer, piroctone olamine, sodium salicylate, guar hydroxypropyltrimonium chloride, mica, cocamide MEA, citric acid, trideceth-10, sodium hydroxide, titanium dioxide, cyclotetrasiloxane, sodium benzoate, helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, iodopropynyl butylcarbamate.

It’s not silicone-free shampoo (dimethiconol). Dimethicone is different from dimethiconol where dimethiconol contains alcohol. I’ve seen some articles that said dimethicone makes your hair soft but gets oily easily. I don’t know much about dimethiconol.

Scent: The scent is sweet and elegant. I would say the scent is a bit identical with Dove Habbatus Sauda Scalp Strength Ritual Shampoo. Thumbs up for the scent, love it. The scent would last for hours.

Texture:

As you could see, there’s such a glittery particle but it actually will not give you a glitter stain.

Result

I have used it for 2 months for a bottle. Let’s breakdown the promises:

Effective in reducing hair loss due to hair breakage = The type of hair loss that I’ve got is from the scalp not from the middle of my hair (hair breakage) which is usually caused by hair styling tools. I use hair straightener only on occasion. So, I couldn’t tell much about it.
Eliminate visible dandruff and prevent dandruff from coming back = I switched from Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Shampoo in order to try this out. Some people said don’t switch your shampoo frequently. Otherwise, it will give you dandruff. It gave me dandruff when I switched. I had to apply Selsun Yellow to banish it. After that, I use Dove again. For 2 months, it neither gave me dandruff nor itch my scalp. Dandruff came because I had switched the shampoo, it was not because of this shampoo. I used Selsun Yellow (my fave hair treatment to combat dandruff, a very effective one) because I noticed that this Dove Shampoo couldn’t eliminate dandruff (in a week).
Doesn’t make your hair looks limp = It is effective to make hair less greasy. It maintained my hair grease-free in a day (which is good because, for me, it’s hard to find a shampoo that could maintain my oily scalp in a day. My hair is frequently getting oily in 4-5 hours after shampooing). But, it didn’t give my hair volume. My mother said, “Why does your hair look so limp?”. No, it’s not oily. The shampoo was softened and made my hair even smoother. Silkier. So that it made my thin hair look limp. It was not actually greasy.

Hair looks limp (Not actually greasy, it was because it made my hair softer and smoother)

Conclusion

I used Dove Habbatus Sauda Scalp Strength Ritual Shampoo last year which gave me the volume that I want. At the same time, it gave me dandruff and couldn’t maintain an oil-free hair condition for a day. Where Dove Super Shampoo with Serum (3 in 1) is the opposite of the Habbatus Sauda. Hoping that Unilever will formulate these two pros into a new product.

Repurchase

No, I prioritize a product that could offer hair volume, promote hair growth from the scalp, and maintain oil-free hair (at least for a day).

1 — It doesn’t do its job and gives me some problems

2 — Doing some of the primary jobs but there are some problems e.g. breakouts by using it

3 — So so product where it doesn’t give me problems but there is no significant improvement too

4 — Giving me a better improvement but not sure to repurchase since there are many substitutes with more effective and efficient

5 — Holy grail product by giving me a significant improvement, very satisfied in all aspects, and absolutely will repurchase it again
